VANCOUVER, CANADA                                           GULF OF ALASKA

May 15th - 22nd 2013 aboard MV Volendam

The ship will leave Vancouver at 5pm on Wednesay May 15th 2013 for a 7-night cruise through the sheltered inside passage of the Gulf of Alaska, with sightseeing stops in Juneau, (the capital of Alaska, America's 49th state), Skagway and Ketchikan.
MFA Cruise Co-ordinator Beverly Merrilees and her husband Bob will be on board and on the second night of the cruise (May 16) they have arranged a pre-dinner Cocktail Party in the Crows Nest where clan members can get acquainted after a welcome by the retiring Clan Chief Michael Mirrilees. Our group is assigned to Main Dining (above) for dinner each night at 5.45pm, but members can be independent or mix informally at breakfasts and lunches. The Hudson Room on the Upper Promenade Deck is available for Clan get-togethers during the cruise and a new Clan Chief will be welcomed at a Clan Celidgh onboard.

The beautiful garden theme of the MS Volendam (below) is reflected in an artful floral motif throughout the ship's spacious public rooms and elegant staterooms. 'Flowers' can be found in abundance in the forms of floral fabrics and tapestries, as well as huge vases of tropical floral arrangements and chrysanthemums.
In addition, Holland America Line has drawn on its collection of incredible artwork to enhance the interior of the ship's public spaces. Everything from pre-Columbian fetishes and sculptures to Renaissance-era fountains imported from Italy are included in its hallway galleries. At the heart of the ship an elegant sculpture by Luciano Vistosi, inspired by the myriad of moods and colors of a kaleidoscope, greets visitors in a soaring three-story atrium.
