This can be pretty crowded. As an alternative, single travellers can have a room-mate.
In addition to the group cabin rates (which include all meals and shipboard entertainment) there is a Gratuities service charge of $11 per guest per day which is automatically added to your shipboard account. Holland America operates as a “cashless society” onboard. You will be asked to provide credit card information at the beginning of your voyage, sign for your purchases, and then settle your account with one transaction at the end of your cruise. Payment is accepted with American Express, VISA, MasterCard, and Discover cards or cash or Travellers Cheques.
A shipboard credit of $25 per person applies to guests 1 & 2 per stateroom and can be used toward any onboard purchase/expense including gratuities. These gratuities are distributed to your room steward, dining room staff, and others that provide service during your cruise. If service exceeds or fails to meet your expectations, you are free to adjust this amount at the end of your cruise. Please note that a 15% gratuity is automatically added to bar charges and dining room wine and beverage purchases.
The optional Travel Protection plans (included above) are highly recommended. The Standard Protection Plan allows you to cancel for any reason up to 24 hours prior to the cruise departure and receive a refund equal to 80% of the eligible amounts paid. Holland America assumes an additional $500 (USD) for liability for lost, damaged or delayed baggage. The Platinum Cancellation Protection Plan supplements the Standard Plan. For the additional fee you will receive:
Pre-departure trip cancellation
Trip interruption protection
Trip delay coverage
Baggage protection
Emergency medical expense and 24-hour emergency hotline assistance.
If you decide to include insurance coverage, you will not pay for it until your final cruise payment is paid. Details of the plans can be viewed at www.hollandamerica.com and click on “Before you Go” and scroll down to “Cancellation Protection Plan”. This travel insurance covers only the cruise. You may of course arrange separate Travel Insurance in your country of residence.
You must have a current passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the completion date of your travel.
A deposit of $350.00 per person is due at the time your reservation is made. Final payment is due February 25, 2013. You also have the option of making interim payments until the final payment is due.
