2013 Clan Gathering could be
on a cruise ship?
The next International Merrilees Gathering, scheduled for May 2013, could be held on a cruise ship out of Vancouver, Canada. This possibility is currently being investigated and Clan Chief Michael Mirrilees has called for the active involvement of younger clan members in its planning and organisation.
"I am hoping to connect with a nucleus of Merrilees, 18-35 years of age, and then to organise the next gathering so that it appeals to this younger generation," he says.



New Canadian Chieftain
After 12 years as Eastern Canada Chieftain, Brian Merrilees has asked to step down and his place has been taken by Phil Merilees of Ontario.
Clan Chief Mike Mirrilees writes:
On behalf of Clan Merrilees, I would like to thank both Brian and Pat Merrilees for so ably serving our family these last 12 years.They are enthusiastic supporters and encouragers of the MFA, and have attended every International Gathering and Canadian gatherings since 1998. Brian is a fine golfer and has competed in all three international Merrilees Golf Tournaments.
His replacement, Phil Merilees has also been a Merrilees enthusiast and has attended many national and international Merrilees events, has always possessed keen insights, shared good ideas and a had passion for our organization to grow and continue to serve our members.We welcome Phil to his new role as Chieftain of Eastern Canada.
